Consumer Alerts

We've been made aware of a potential scam in which an individual called a consumer and claimed to represent the State of Ohio and the Ohio's Best Rx program. The caller falsely said the state was issuing or re-issuing Ohio's Best Rx cards and that she needed information, such as bank account number or social security number, to verify the consumer's identity. Since the Golden Buckeye program is affiliated with the Ohio's Best Rx program, the Ohio Department of Aging is notifying consumers to be on the lookout for this scam and avoid falling victim.

No representative of the Golden Buckeye or Ohio's Best Rx programs will contact cardholders for personal or financial information. We believe these calls are part of a scam to gain access to consumers' financial accounts or to steal victims' identities. If you receive such a call, do not provide any information to the caller and end the call immediately.
